CNC Machining ⚙️

CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machining is an automated manufacturing process that utilizes computer-controlled machine tools to perform a wide range of machining operations, such as milling, turning, drilling, and grinding. By automating the movement and operation of machine tools, CNC machining enables the production of custom parts and components with high precision, accuracy, and consistency, as well as reduced waste and labour compared to manual machining methods.

How CNC Machining Works

The G-code provides detailed instructions for the CNC machine to follow, including:

  • CNC Lathes: CNC lathes hold and rotate the workpiece while a stationary cutting tool removes material, creating cylindrical or round components.

  • CNC Routers: Used for cutting, shaping, and engraving materials like wood, plastic, and softer metals, CNC routers are commonly used in woodworking, sign-making, and prototyping.

  • CNC Grinders: Grinders use abrasive wheels to achieve fine surface finishes and tight tolerances, typically used for finishing operations.

  • CNC EDM (Electrical Discharge Machining): EDM uses electrical discharges to shape conductive materials, ideal for producing complex shapes that would be challenging to achieve with conventional tools.
