5.0 Robotics 4th Axis systems

4th Axis Rotary System:

  • Functionality: The 4th axis system provides an additional rotational axis (A-axis), enabling the machine to rotate a chuck 360 degrees on the machine bed. This transforms the CNC machine into a hybrid environment capable of acting like a lathe for certain operations.

    • Capabilities:

      • The A-axis can index or continuously rotate workpieces, enabling machining of features such as round dowels, tapered shapes, and complex profiles.

      • Compatible with CAM packages for various levels of interpolation, from simple indexing with X or Y-axis locking to full 3D motion including X, Y, Z, and A.

    • Technical Features:

      • All 5.0 Robotics Executive Series machines come with a dedicated 4th axis connection port on the control box.

      • Ports include a high-performance, high-voltage stepper driver and a 24V NPN induction sensor input for homing functionality.

    • Customization:

      • Supports off-the-shelf 4th axis solutions or high-end configurations, such as closed-loop AC servo-driven systems.

      • Control boxes can be tailored to interface with high-end systems used in industrial machining centers (available as an optional upgrade).

    • Applications:
