STEPCRAFT software

STEPCRAFT Software

One of the most important aspects of any CNC system is the journey from the part or design you would like to make – through to the part being cut out in the machine. There are a few steps that are needed to allow a CNC machine to produce a part that you would like to make.

This section aims to help you understand what options are available with for your STEPCRAFT CNC system and which options will best suit your particular application.

If you have not already done so please review the formal comparison between WinPC Starter and the UCCNC controller Here .

SOFTWARE OPTIONS FOR STEPCRAFT

There are two main software options for controlling your STEPCRAFT CNC system. The first option comes as standard (included in base kit price) and is called WinPC starter. This is a basic software package with some basic functions. WinPC starter requires CorelDraw to operate and can machine in 2D. Have a look here for an overview of WinPC starter. WinPC Starter is limited as it has no live view of the machine position, cannot compensate for cutting tool geometry and cannot achieve multiple pass depths.

The second option is a full Gcode control software UCCNC package we offer.

If you have not already done so please review the formal comparison between WinPC Starter and the UCCNC controller Here .

So in summary – you can choose to run the machine with the basic WinPC starter software – or – you can opt to upgrade the system to the full Gcode controller using UCCNC or Mach3 software. We recommend the UCCNC software and fully support UCCNC. We recommend the UCCNC.We will supply with Mach3 is requested.

If you would like to start with the WinPC starter package this is no problem. It is very straight forward to upgrade at a later date to the UCCNC controller.

WinPC Starter

WinPC starter comes as part of the price included in the STEPCRAFT kits. The system has basic plotting ability and is a good entry level piece of software. However to get the most out of your system we recommend getting a full Gcode controller. See below for the UCCNC and Mach3 controller options

UCCNC software (36£) Recommended software

If you have not already done so please review the formal comparison between WinPC Starter and the UCCNC controller Here .

The UCCNC software is our recommended software package with the STEPCRAFT systems. The UCCNC operates with the UC100 motion controller. With the UC100 and UCCNC package you have a full Gcode based controller for your STEPCRAFT machine that is easy to use and control your machine with. The UCCNC is suited to users from the STEPCRAFT machines up to the professional machines. See here for more information and to see samples of the support materials we provide with the UCCNC software. All the installation steps are documented with video tutorials to supplement the manual provided when you choose the UCCNC software. Every step is explained in detail as to how to setup your machine., The UC100 and UCCNC will work on Windows XP, 7 and 8 (32 bit and 64 bit versions). UCCNC is our recommended software package for the STEPCRAFT systems,

See here for more information about using your system with the UCCNC.

Mach3 control (100£)

Mach3 is a well known controller for CNC applications. We support Mach3. The UC100 USB controller is also fully compatible with Mach3. We recommend the UCCNC software – but we will supply the machines with Mach3 if requested.

See here for more information about using your system with Mach3.
